Is blogging dead?

...or at least decentralized? I think that's what Seth Godin is asking in his latest post. With Twitter, podcasts, tags, texting, GooTube, and everything else, maybe it's time to admit that blogging alone is not supreme amongst citizen web media. A tough pill to swallow for we writers. Ulp.

Blogging is no longer “the thing”, anymore.  Just one thing, of many.  Too many other choices now.

So what do blogs stil give?

Storytelling, up-to-date analysis, and a general excuse for writerly types, to write.

Blogging is not dead. There are just other online mediums coming into their prime, podcasting and videocasting being a few of them. Radio, TV, and movies have yet to kill books, which have been around for hundreds of years. Written word has something unique that we all seem to feel cannot be replaced. Of course, we could question whether it will be replaced by another form of writing on the web, but I don't think it will. With platforms like Wordpress, which were created inherently to evolve and be open to change, blogging will keep up and integrate with emerging technology. I think saying that it is or no longer will be supreme amongst online media is definitely correct. Podcasting and vidcasting will rock our worlds in the very near future.
